Difference Between LED and LCD

LCD means Light Emitting Diode and LED means Liquid Crystal Display. There are four main differences between LED displays and LCD displays.

Comparable to the LED light-emitting diode as the backlight of the LED display and CCFL cathode ray tube as the backlight of the LCD display. LED and LCD both originally do not have comparable.

The following is a detailed description of the two displays:

The LED Display

LED display is a kind of LCD liquid crystal display. LED display is a LED light-emitting diode as the backlight of the display.

Liquid crystal it will not emit its own light, only auxiliary refraction of light. And the backlight of the LED display is LED light-emitting diode.

LCD Display

LCD display usually refers to the cathode ray tube CCFL as a backlight to light, and then refracted through the crystal display.

LCD monitor is theoretically included in the LED display LED display only to the light-emitting diode as the backlight of the LCD display, individually known as the LED display only.

Let's talk about the difference between LED display and LCD display:

1. Backlight source is different

LED display and LCD display is the biggest difference between the backlight is different. LED display backlight is LED light-emitting diodes, LCD display backlight is non-LED light-emitting diodes, such as cathode ray tubes.

2. Difference in brightness

Because of the LED brightness, than the brightness of the cathode ray tube. So in terms of brightness, LED monitors are brighter than LCD monitors.

3. Difference in power consumption

In terms of power consumption, LED light-emitting diodes consume less power than cathode ray tubes, so LED displays consume less power than LCD monitors.

4. Different color performance

Because the cathode ray tube in the color purity of the performance is not as good as the LED light-emitting diode, so the color performance of the LED display is better than the LCD display.

It should be noted that: the above mentioned LED display is not the true meaning of the LED display, just LED backlit display, still belongs to the category of LCD, the real LED display screen is OLED display. OLED display does not belong to any of the LED display and LCD display, is a display display technology that does not require a backlight. But OLED screen has a disadvantage, is strobe, compared to the LCD screen, more harmful to the eyes.
